About us

Why Telescope Net exists

Most telescope buying advice online is written to sell you the most expensive option in the list. Ours is written to get you outside, looking up, without an instrument fighting you the whole way.

What we do

Telescope Net publishes buying guides, plain-language optics education, and honest reviews for amateur astronomers — from someone picking out a first tabletop reflector to an observer choosing their next eyepiece upgrade. We write every guide from the same starting question: what will this actually look like through the eyepiece, and does that match what the buyer is hoping for?

How we evaluate gear

We prioritise the factors that affect real observing sessions over the ones that look impressive on a spec sheet — mount stability over advertised magnification, aperture-per-dollar over brand names, and honest expectation-setting over glossy marketing photography. Where a budget option cuts a corner safely, we say so; where it doesn't, we say that too.

Affiliate disclosure

Telescope Net participates in affiliate programs, and some links on this site may earn us a commission on qualifying purchases, at no additional cost to you. This never determines which products we recommend — our picks are based on optical merit and real-world usability, and we turn down affiliate placements that don't meet our own bar.

Corrections

Optics specifications and product lineups change. If you spot something out of date or incorrect in one of our guides, get in touch and we'll review it.
